An exciting opportunity exists for an Operations Manager to join a leading Manufacturing company based in Leicester.


Basic salary of c£45,000 per annum

Ensuring that orders are manufactured correctly, within defined cost structures and delivered on time in accordance with customer specification and quality requirements.
Communicating with all relevant people/departments in order to closely co-ordinate the design, production and warehouse teams to ensure production output and on time delivery targets are achieved
Oversight of scheduling and reviewing workload to ensure production output and
on time delivery targets are achieved cost effectively
Ensuring that the shop floor has the necessary manpower, competence, skill,
knowledge required in order to achieve production targets
Monitor and review production progress against deadlines to ensure on time delivery
Monitor and review manufacturing operations to ensure correct quality standards
Ensure that all production related activity optimises the resources available to be most time and cost efficient /effective
Ensure production/quality processes, equipment being used and the working environment are all conducive to producing a high quality product /service
Monitor production activity to ensure that the appropriate manufacturing methods are employed and that sufficient due care is taken in order to meet quality requirements.
Reduce manufacturing errors by maintaining data and implementing improvements
Ensure rejected product/non-conformance is rectified as high priority and that customers are kept informed accordingly
Develop, monitor and drive improvement in performance standards
Monitor, review and address personnel under performance, whilst identifying and nurturing possible future higher achievers
Ensure that the appropriate systems and processes are in place to measure, manage and report staff performance and to coach and develop a high performance workforce
As Operations Manager you will need to establish goals and objectives for the team and implement accordingly to help support/ improve job performance (experience, ability, competence)


Have a full understanding of production planning and scheduling and how these can be successfully managed in a busy service focused manufacturing business to achieve improvement and flexibility
Have experience and a working understanding of procurement and stock management
Have experience of managing Quality Control systems through a practical and statistical process to deliver the required regular verifiable production quality results
Ideally, but not necessarily, educated to HNC/HND/Degree level in an engineering related discipline or equally shop floor experienced
Have a clear understanding of health and safety best practice and legislation, showing that implementation of this has been achieved in the past to deliver a safe working environment
Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering and technical drawings.
Broad background in mechanical engineering/manufacturing with a wide range of knowledge on manufacturing and production processes
Possess the ability to plan, implement and manage change in the business where necessary
Experience of working with Sheet Metal would be a distinct advantage
