TRANSPORT CLERK

Location: Abingdon
Salary: £10.00 per hour
Temp to Perm
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Mon - Fri, 09:00 - 17:30 (40 hours)


The Role of the Transport Clerk
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport Clerk. Our client, a leading transport and logistics company is looking for a person with previous a previous transport related background to join their team. The role involves communicating with drivers on a daily basis undertaking de briefs and picking up any issues that may arise. Once the position is established further scope to take on payroll and finance related duties will be required so previous experience in this would be advantageous. This role is offered on a temp to perm basis and is a great long term opportunity.

The successful Transport Clerk will be responsible for:

* Booking customer deliveries (to residential properties)
* Conducting customer surveys post delivery
* Occasional booking of retailer returns
* Driver debriefs - running through:
o Accidents
o Returns
o Going through runsheets
o Mileage / fuel
o Ensuring all minor issues are picked up as these can often snowball into bigger issues
* Filing/archiving
* Some checking of clocking in cards
* Latterly to move into some payroll/finance/invoicing


The desired skills of the Transport Clerk

* Transport knowledge/relevant transport related experience
* Attention to detail
* Confident
* MS Office - daily Excel user
* Organised and methodical
* Able to multi task


* Finance/payroll type background - desirable
* Warehouse/operations understanding - desirable
